Every charity or non-profit has a strong desire to host fundraisers that are easy to organize but yield maximum results. The ease and smoothness with which a fundraiser can be hosted depends upon factors such as the effort that will be required; the resources that you can muster; and the length of the fundraiser.
The amount of effort required is a function of the objective of the fundraiser. How much money do you wish to generate from the event? If you are heading a small group, then there is only so much effort that you can put in the time leading up to the fundraiser.
Also, if the group is small, there are bound to be resource crunches. You will find that you are in almost perennial need for resources, both time and money. An easy to host fundraiser can be the answer, but the question is how?
A fundraising preparation that does not ask for much from the volunteers stands a good chance of reaching fruition as desired and meeting the monetary objectives. Community youngsters will not mind giving a little time each week. Plan ahead and focus on completing the necessary activities. Apportion jobs and see if you can set up guys to do some multitasking.
A fundraiser that is meant to last an evening can be prepared for without much trouble. Three or four interesting activities will help to keep the event entertaining and hopefully the donations will keep coming.
Here are a few ideas for easy to host fundraisers. Consider a yard sale. Can be set up in almost no time. Get the junk out of your attic and your friends’ attic and spread it out on the front porch, as simple as this to be in business. Of course, you will benefit by hosting the yard sale on a Saturday and Sunday morning, when there are people at home. Segregate the stuff, lay it out neatly, and price it over a range which keeps potential buyers interested. An ad in the local newspaper won’t hurt at all. Get volunteers to carry out some word-of-mouth publicity. For a small group, a yard sale is hard to beat in terms of returns obtained for effort put.
A variation of a yard sale is selling discount stuff on eBay. You can do it by gathering knick-knacks from all around. This can be vinyl records, cassettes, books, perfumes, items that are obtained cheap in your area, and so on. Or you can sell specialty stuff in a high-traffic area of your locality, such as pumpkins during Halloween; Christmas trees; greeting cards; Easter eggs; etc.
